# Paste by OpenApps

Paste is a free alternative to Pastebin: paste text, code or a log and share it by link. No account, no ads and no daily limit.

Web app: https://paste-free.openapps.xyz/

## What it does

- Makes a link to any text up to 512 KB, with line numbers and syntax highlighting for 22 languages (detected, or picked).
- Every paste is unlisted: only people with the link can open it. Nobody can browse, list or search pastes.
- Expiry: never, or after 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year. Expired pastes cannot be opened by anyone.
- Burn after reading: the first person to open the link sees the paste, and then it is deleted.
- Lock with a password: the browser encrypts the paste with the password before it is sent, so the server never sees the text or the password.
- Key in the link: the browser encrypts the paste with a random key that is the part of the link after the # sign.
- Markdown pastes show rendered, with a switch to the source.
- Readers can copy, download, open the raw text, print, edit a copy, and click a line number to link to that line.
- The maker gets a private admin link to edit or delete the paste on any device, with no account. Pastes made in a browser are listed under "Your pastes" in that browser.

## How to use it

1. Paste or type the text, or drop a text file, at https://paste-free.openapps.xyz/.
2. Pick when it expires and whether to lock it, then press Create link.
3. Send the link. Keep the admin link to edit or delete the paste later.

## For AI assistants

A public HTTP API with no key: https://functions.bounded.sh/apps/6eca480d6447d873e2e5eed9/api

- `POST /pastes` with `{"content": "...", "title": "...", "expires": "1d", "burn": false}` returns the link (`url`), the plain text link (`rawUrl`), a private `adminUrl` and an `ownerKey`.
- Or send a file as it is: `curl --data-binary @file.log -H 'content-type: text/plain' 'https://functions.bounded.sh/apps/6eca480d6447d873e2e5eed9/api/pastes?title=file.log&expires=1d'`.
- `GET /pastes/<id>` (JSON) and `GET /pastes/<id>/raw` (plain text) read a paste.
- `PATCH` and `DELETE /pastes/<id>` with the `x-owner-key` header edit or delete it.

## Questions

**Is there a free Pastebin alternative with no ads?** Yes. Paste shares text and code by link with no ads, no account and no daily limit. It has what people use Pastebin for: syntax highlighting, expiry, burn after reading and password locks, plus Markdown rendering, which Pastebin keeps for PRO members.

**Is Paste really free?** Yes. There is no paid plan, no ads and no daily limit. OpenApps pays the little a paste costs to keep.

**Do I need an account?** No. You get a private admin link to edit or delete the paste on any device.

**Who can see my paste?** Only people who have its link. The link holds 12 random characters, so it cannot be guessed.

**Can I password-protect a paste?** Yes. Set Lock to Password. Send the password separately from the link. If it is lost, nobody can open the paste, not even OpenApps.

**When do pastes expire?** When you choose: never, after 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year, or after the first view.

**How big can a paste be?** Up to 512 KB of text. Through the API, one request can carry up to 128 KB.
